Mechatronics is an integration of mechanical engineering and electronics. It also includes a mixture of robotics,
electronics, computer science, telecommunications, systems, controls and product engineering. An operation
utilizes
mechatronics to automate production and control systems with the use of robots or programs.
For example, your current operation is not performing to its full potential and could benefit from adding a
robotic
element - but you are unsure where to start. Our dedicated team of mechatronics specialists provides you with
highly
efficient and simple systems to maximize your operation's automation and productivity.
By working with local integrators, we have the unique ability to design a robotic work cell from the ground up
while
providing ongoing support to our customers. Support also includes control system debugging from our team of
Denso
trained specialist.
When it comes to industrial automation, Kirby Risk has you covered. We provide a full line of precision
mechanical
products from Denso, Macron,
Lintech, EDrive,
Kyntronics, Wittenstein and
Stober.

- Belt drive actuators
- Ball screw tables

ROBOTS ON THE PLANT FLOOR: A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT
Human employees can safely work alongside their robotic counterparts with Denso
Robotics' Collaborative Robot
controller.
Problem: A customer needed to apply adhesive to an oil pan, but the process was time-consuming
and involved a heavy
manual lift. They sought out robots to increase production rates.
Simultaneously, the process happened to be in a location where there is not enough room for safety fencing. Due
to
the curing time of the adhesive, whenever there are breaks or shift changes, the adhesive dispensing nozzle was
cleared to avoid hardened blockages. To keep production levels high, that procedure needed to be fast and safe.
The customer decided to implement a Denso robot with a safety controller to automate the dispensing process.
Using
Denso's Safety Motion, employees are able to approach while the program is running, and the robot will
automatically
stop all motion when the employee is within a specific distance. The safety controller means employees don't
have to
remember to hit a button to stop the process before walking toward the robot. The robot resumes immediately
after
the employee is out of the specified range.
Denso's safety motion was developed to address a main issue with force monitored collaborative robots — speed.
Force
monitored collaborative robots have to be slowed down in order to not injure their human counterparts. Force
monitored collaborative robots still have their place in environments where slower speeds are not an issue, but
in
many applications, faster is simply better.
