At Kirby Risk, we believe in the power of community. We strive to help and improve the communities where we work and live. That’s why, for the second year in a row, The Kirby Risk Network of Women (KNOW) collected donations for Sheltering Wings, a domestic violence shelter located in Danville, Indiana.
Sheltering Wings provides a safe haven for men, women and their dependent children who are fleeing domestic abuse. They offer emergency housing and supportive services for domestic violence survivors to build stable, independent lives after abuse.
KNOW Forum attendees collected a variety of personal hygiene products, nonperishable food items and other necessities to be donated to Sheltering Wings.
Jenna Harris, Communication and Annual Giving Officer at Sheltering Wings, shares how KNOW’s donations make an impact:
“When you gather these items, you’re making sure that kids have snacks when they get back to the shelter after school. You’re making sure that survivors have the hygiene products that they need, and that case managers have the resources ready to go so that they can best help survivors. You are making sure that when someone comes to Sheltering Wings, the only thing they need to worry about is their safety.”
