The Appleton GRTS Series Junction Box by Emerson is here!
Junction boxes enclose wire connections and are required in residential, commercial and industrial facilities. Among many tasks, they help protect against short circuits, which can cause fires, and are only used for connecting wires to each other rather than to fixtures, switches or receptacles. The NEC regulates the types of junctions boxes allowed in applications, as well as how they’re installed. Local building codes also regulate their use.
No matter the need or the location, Emerson’s Appleton™ brand has an enclosure that ensures long-term safety, performance, and reliability, with an eye on making the job as easy as possible for the electrician. Case in point: the new Appleton GRTS series of junction boxes. Versatile for use in both hazardous (Div. 1 and Div. 2) and non-hazardous locations, inside and outside, GRTS boxes provide electrical contractors with the perfect solution for stanchion-mounted lighting applications as well as any general raceway needs whether cable or conduit is used.
Several features of the GRTS Series make it your best choice. Innovative mounting feet design, for instance, developed with contractor input, enables easier installation when mounting to brackets, trays, walls, columns and more. Once you open the GRTS you will find an extra-large space to freely access, splice and maintain your wires.
In addition, there is a new cable-attached cover that eliminates drop hazards and increase jobsite safety. One of the most common causes of injury and death on construction sites is falling objects. When an object such as a dropped tool or an electrical box falls, serious injury or harm may occur, even if the worker is wearing a hard hat. The GRTS prevents this.
Problems occur in electrical systems when less than robust products are installed in challenging environments, and usually at the worst times. GRTS provides unmatched protection from environmental conditions with Appleton’s unique triple coat and epoxy coat finishes on iron or aluminum boxes, and NEMA 4/4X and IP66 ratings to withstand rain, windblown dust, snow, and sleet.
Like all Appleton electrical products, the GRTS is rich in user options. Factory-installed options are available such as 10 AWG capable terminal blocks for today’s lighting, receptacle and control needs, and a drain option for areas requiring control over condensation and moisture build up.
Because they are so versatile, GRTS simplify inventory management for both distributors and contractors, an important factor with today’s supply chain issues, by eliminating the need to stock a variety of costly junction box/hub combinations. For more information, visit www.appletonelec.com
